Hi, I'm Helen.

As a Behavioural Groomer, I don't just see a coat that needs cutting --- I see a dog that needs to feel safe, understood & respected. Every groom is tailored not just to you dog's coat, but to their temperament, stress levels & individual needs. That is what sets The Dog Lady apart.

I didn't set out to start a dog business — it just made sense. Working with dogs always felt natural to me. Communication, reading their body language, knowing what they need — it never felt like something I had to learn, it just clicked.

I have Havanese of my own, and somewhere along the way I started grooming them myself. After a while I stood back, looked at my work and thought — I'm actually really good at this. So I decided to make it official.

With a background of over 15 years in hairdressing, transitioning into dog grooming was a natural move. The eye for shape, the scissor work, the understanding of coat and skin — it all carried over. I then trained under Melanie Newman, one of the most respected names in the grooming industry, to make sure my skills were where they needed to be.

That Dog Lady has been built on one simple idea — that every dog deserves to be treated as an individual. No rushing, no cookie cutter approach, just genuine care and attention every single time.
